Iowa State University (ISU) Extension in Page County is offering Setting Limits Without Guilt on Friday, May 16, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Shenandoah High School Auditorium. Karen Hickman, Loving Guidance, Inc., will conduct the Setting Limits Without Guilt workshop for parents and caregivers with children zero to seven.

Participants will learn how to maintain their composure and set effective, fair limits; practice giving commands children will listen to and obey; and handle the “I don’t want to!” and “You can’t make me!” responses. Free child care will be available if requested in advance.

The Setting Limits Without Guilt workshop is free. It is paid for by ISU Extension in Page County and the Corner Counties Community Empowerment area. Classroom Reports

Grade 1:  Matthew Swafford

My class went on a field trip to the Children’s Museum in Lincoln.  It was a long trip but I had lots of fun!  My favorite place was the praise dog village with many tunnels to crawl through.  I have to learn a lot of actions for the Ten Commandment song in the Spring Program.  You will be surprised to see our costume!

Grade 2:  The Second Grade Class

Last Friday we went to the Children’s Museum in Lincoln.  We think it was awesome and amazing.  It rained on us getting there but not when we ate the played at the park.  This Friday we get to go to the Science Center here in Clarinda.  We took our last DOL test this week.  We are also working hard getting ready for the musical.  We are having fun making Mother’s Day cards and gifts.

Grade 6:  Bailey Mellencamp

The musical is next Friday!  Everyone had the day off on Tuesday to attend Miss Sump’s father’s funeral.  We are keeping them in our prayers.  The girls have been having before school practices for the musical.  The band students had a concert on Tuesday night and it went very well!  We are going on our field trip on May 22nd.  We are going to Omaha to the Joslyn Art Museum and the Durham Western Heritage Museum.  There are two weeks left of school and we are getting very excited.

Grade 7-8:  Kathi Hoskins

This week we are working very hard on the musical and we’re almost finished up.  In Science we are learning about chemistry.  In PE we are going bowling every Friday and we have learning a lot and had fun.  We’re exciting for Miss Sump to come back to school.  Keep her in your prayers.
